The other day, I was researching ideas to provide our readers with holistic options to combat their neuropathy pain right from their homes. That is when I stumbled across numerous blogs talking about “gin-soaked raisins” as a home remedy. Have you ever heard of this?
It sounds like the only two items you need are a box of gold raisins and a bottle of gin. From what I read, you empty the box of gold raisins and put them in a bowl and then cover the raisins in gin. You leave this bowl either in the fridge or on the counter and allow the gin to evaporate for 9 days. Once evaporated, the raisins contain a small amount of gin.
I read a couple of testimonials as well, stating that the raisins absolutely helped. The only concern I have is with this remedy is a neuropathy sufferer intaking any alcohol at all. As I’m sure you are all well aware, alcohol and neuropathy don’t mix — alcohol is very toxic to nerve tissue and can cause even further damage to your nerves and the rest of your body. Read more about it from the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy.
If you attempt this method, please understand the risks associated with alcohol consumption. I strongly advise contacting your doctor before proceeding as well.
