Diabetes is a serious disease and it often presents some serious side effects. One of these side effects is diabetic neuropathy. This condition occurs when the peripheral nerves become damaged. It is also known as peripheral neuropathy as well. This nerve damage can result in tingling feet, pain and numb feet.

Range of Treatment Options

Although treatment for peripheral neuropathy must be overseen by a knowledgeable doctor, this condition also responds well to home remedies. These include eating more fruits and vegetables as well as lean dairy products and meats, moderate and gentle exercise, and massage with a neuropathy cream.

Neuropathy Cream 101

Using a neuropathy cream can help to relieve the pain and discomfort caused by tingling feet, numb feet and other forms of nerve damage. Neuropathy creams contain capsaicin, the ingredient that causes the different levels of heat in red chili peppers. The warmth from the capsaicin is often soothing to those people who suffer from nerve damage such as numb feet as well as tingling feet. It can also be soothing to those that suffer pain from diabetic neuropathy.

Other Alternative Treatment Options

In addition, it can be beneficial for many people to explore other neuropathy treatments in conjunction with what their doctor prescribes. These remedies include acupuncture, biofeedback, and neuropathy cream, to name just a few of the other options available for the relief of pain, numb feet or tingling feet.

Not a Quick Fix

It is also important to note that many of these remedies, including any medications the physician may prescribe, can take some time to begin working in such a way that gives the person some relief. For example, when using a neuropathy cream, it can take several sessions to get the dosage at the right level and frequency in order for it to work at the maximum rate for that particular person.

Neuropathy Cream and Massage

Using a neuropathy cream in conjunction with massage can give a person suffering from peripheral neuropathy the benefits of a great massage along with the healing properties of a product that addresses the tingling feet and numb feet that are such an issue with diabetic neuropathy. The warming sensation of the neuropathy cream provides much comfort to people suffering from the type of pain that comes from nerve damage.

Peripheral neuropathy is the name for nerve damage that occurs in the peripheral nerves.

These nerves do not include the spinal cord or the brain — they are all the other nerves in the body.

Most nerve damage of this type is caused by diabetes which is why it is commonly referred to as “diabetic neuropathy”.

Peripheral Neuropathy Symptoms

There are a number of symptoms that are common when a person has peripheral neuropathy; so common that they are often exactly the same amongst patients across the globe.

The most common of these symptoms are:

  • numb feet and/or hands
  • tingling in the feet and/or hands
  • “pin and needle” sensations of the feet and/or hands
  • complete inability to use hands or feet due to these sensations

For this type of nerve damage, there are a number of neuropathy treatments available for those who are seeking an additional layer of relief.

Capsaicin is the active ingredient in both red chili peppers and in neuropathy cream. It is the substance that gives the red chili pepper its level of heat.

Capsaicin in Neuropathy Cream

Similarly, the capsaicin in the neuropathy cream provides a soothing and warming experience for those people who suffer from the tingling feet, pain, and numb feet of peripheral neuropathy.

Many people have found that an application of neuropathy cream can help lessen the pain of diabetic neuropathy.

Strengths of Neuropathy Cream

Neuropathy creams come in different strength solutions.

It is best to start off with the lowest strength.

Following the directions carefully, apply the smallest amount called for.

Keep in mind that it can take some time to see any effects. In fact, some sources recommend trying a new regime for at least a month in order to determine if it is the right choice.

Neuropathy Cream Attributes

Many people report feeling a pleasant warming feeling when using a neuropathy cream with capsaicin as the main ingredient.

This can help with pain relief, particularly if there is an application schedule that is adhered to.

The reason for the application schedule is so that the person is not in pain but rather has pain relief from the neuropathy cream at regular intervals.

This will result in more efficient pain management.

A Massage is a Tandem Option

Another type of neuropathy treatment is massage.

A massage can be a relaxing occurrence. When combined with other types of treatments, the management of pain and other symptoms of diabetic neuropathy can be achieved at an acceptable level.

handThough Neuropathy can affect the entire body, it often manifests itself in the hands or feet.   The symptoms can include weakness, numbness, pain or tingling in the hands, arms or feet.  Though these symptoms are best addressed by treating the underlying cause of the nerve damage, simple exercises can help manage your symptoms and possibly slow the damage.
